Policies

The relationship between the massage therapist and the client is one built on trust and mutual respect. In order to preserve this relationship, the client should be aware of my policies before the first session begins.

What you can expect from me:
  • Clients are treated with dignity and respect.
  • I take an integrative approach to massage therapy. I will use a mixture of massage and bodywork techniques to address your needs and preferences.
  • Massage therapy is provided for the purpose of stress reduction, pain reduction, relief from muscle tension, and increasing circulation. Massage therapists cannot diagnose illness/disease, prescribe medical treatment or pharmaceuticals, and do not provide spinal manipulations.
  • Health records will be reviewed before every appointment.
  • Privacy and confidentiality are maintained at all times.
  • Personal and professional boundaries will be respected and maintained.
  • You may choose to be fully clothed or to undress to your comfort level so that lotions/oils can be used. If not fully dressed, clients will be draped with a sheet and/or towel at all times.
  • The breast and genital area will not be massaged under any circumstances.
  • I welcome any and all requests to adjust pressure, music volume, massage methods, or to work longer on an area or move on. Your comfort is my priority.
  • You may choose to refuse any massage methods or stop the massage at any time.
  • I respect that your time is valuable. If I have to cancel your appointment due to emergency or contagious illness, I will do so in as far in advance as possible. If less than 24-hour notice is given, your next massage will be free, with the exception of cancellations due to severe weather.
  • If for any reason I arrive late to an appointment, you will be refunded for the massage that day.

My expectations of clients:
  • Massage therapy is not a substitute for medical care, and I recommend that clients work with a primary care provider for any condition they may have.
  • It is your responsibility to inform me of all known physical conditions and medications and keep me updated on any changes.
  • If you are experiencing fever, diarrhea, vomiting, lice, scabies, or any other contagious illness, I ask that you post-pone massage until the illness has resolved.
  • If you experience any pain or discomfort, it is your responsibility to let me know so that I can adjust what I am doing and avoid harming you.
  • My time is valuable. Massage sessions begin and end at scheduled times. If you arrive late, the session will still end at the scheduled time and the full price will still be charged. If you used a gift certificate, voucher, package code, or coupon to pay for the appointment, it will be considered used and no longer valid.
  • If you fail to show to your appointment or do not cancel your appointment online at least 24 hours before the scheduled time, you will be charged for the missed appointment. If you used a gift certificate, voucher, package code, or coupon to pay for the appointment, it will be considered used and no longer valid. If you have an emergency or are too sick to get a massage, exceptions to this policy will be made on a case by case basis if you contact me before the scheduled massage time. In the case of severe weather, including winter weather advisories and tornado watches/warnings, an exception to this policy applies if you contact me before your appointment time.
  • Requests for sexual activity will not be tolerated and will be viewed as solicitation. The session will end immediately and the solicitation will be reported to the proper authorities. The client will not be rescheduled if this occurs.
  • I reserve the right to terminate a massage session or therapeutic relationship if I find it to be in the best interest of the client or myself.
